River of Love

Mata Amritanandamanyi Devi, affectionately called Mother, Amma, or Ammachi, is a unique embodiment of love and compassion. She is the revered teacher for millions of people throughout the world and has dedicated her life to relieving human suffering and bringing love and joy to the world. Amma has initiated many important charitable projects in India, including the construction of an 800-bed hospital in the south, over 25,000 houses for the poor, hospices for the terminally ill and AIDS patients, numerous schools and colleges, and the provision of food and shelter for over 1,000 orphans. All are free to the poor.

Amma lives her message, showing that "Service to the needy is service to God."

In River of Love, her very difficult childhood is portrayed in a vivid re-creation, filmed in her village with local actors. The viewer is taken on a rich and fantastic journey into the life of one of the most incredible beings of our time.
