Byrd Productions has partnered with several schools in the Seattle area to host week-long media camps where youth create their own Public Service Announcements about environmental issues. We have designed the program for grades 5, 8, 11 or 12. Media Camp covers all phases of video production as well as environmental education. Campers come up with a topic, do research, design, shoot and edit a PSA using professional production equipment. We also cover a unit on media literacy, so that youth can be critical viewers and makers of media rather than mere consumers. This is a chance for them to make their own voices heard! Several of these projects were funded in part by King County's "Recycle or Bust" program.
